How to find us..

Although you can easily see Grace Church from Wyoming Avenue (U.S. Route 11) in Kingston, we are across he street from  the Kingston Municpal building.  The most obvious landmark on "our" side of the street is Dairy Queen,  however  Butler Street is a one way street heading west (coming toward you) at this point. So...

If you are heading North along Route 11 in Kingston, go past  Dairy Queen and KFC , the first right after the traffic signal, James Street, go one block to Rutter Ave make a right , then one short block, turn right onto Butler Street.

If you are going south on Route 11, make a left at James Street (Bank of America is on the Corner) go one block to Rutter Ave make a right then go one short block, then another right onto Butler Street.

If you are coming from the East Side (Wilkes Barre), cross the Pierce Street bridge (which is called North Street in the vicinity of the Luzerne County Courthouse) proceed about a half mile to Rutter Ave, make a right at Goldstein’s Deli, two short blocks, left onto Butler Street.

From Interstate 81 take exit 170B to PA route 309 (Cross Valley Expressway) to exit 4, at the top of the ramp, make a left. You are now on Rutter Ave. Butler Street is approximately 8/10 of a mile on the right.

From the Poconos, or the PA turnpike follow Route 115 N to 309 N to Cross Valley Exit 4. Exit to your right, but stay in the left lane of the off ramp. Make a left. You are now on Rutter Ave proceed on Ruttter to Butler Street (approximately 8/10 of a mile) make a right (there is a Grace Church sign), Grace Church is on your right near the end of the block.

We are a Church in the Broad tradition of worship, and we welcome diversity

Welcome  to our website

Grace Church is a wonderful family of individuals with diverse backgrounds, relationships, interests and incomes,  a true microcosm of what is best about Wyoming Valley.   We have chosen to worship here, united in friendship, fellowship and Faith because Love resides here.

We are an inclusive, progressive  parish in the Broad Episcopal tradition, employing liturgy , music, tradition and reason to better understand our Faith in the context of God's love for us.

We have a  vibrant, growing Sunday School with gifted Leadership. Our Children and Youth programs are at once educational, invigorating, and just plain fun.
We have regular Children's Services which include an absolutely inspiring music program.

Our form worship varies, from Quiet Eucharist to Sung Family Eucharist.

We use both the traditional Order as contained in the Book of Common Prayer,  supplemented by Enriching Our Worship so that our Lord's message speaks to us in many ways.

We do our very best  to live Jesus' charge to " Love one another" in our daily life,  and if you visit, we are sure you will soon feel at home among people who truly care about you.

We will take great joy in your visit, we are open to any questions you may have, but most of all, we hope you will consider us as your Parish home.

We wish your the very best in life's journey and bid you to "Go in peace to love and serve the Lord".

-  the People of Grace Church

CHAPTER TWO

Life is a challenge and an adventure. We have bid our friend and Pastor Geoff Howson a fond goodbye as he continues his spiritual journey, and we faithful people known as Grace Church begin a spiritual journey of our own.

We are happy to anounce that Father Dennis Berk of the Episcopal Diocese of Central Pennyslvania will join us as Interim Priest starting August third. He will be with us while our search for a permenant Rector begins.

Life in Kingston can be described as Idyllic. Old fashioned sidewalks abound.  You can walk to this wonderful,  peaceful place called Kirby Park, where ther are Pavillions, Tennis courts, softball fields, a fitness course, and a paved marked running path.  No less than than four supermarkets and two shopping centers are in close proximity. Two Libraries, the Kirby Center for the Arts, KIng's College and Wilkes University are an easy walk along pleasant venues. In short a wonderful Municipality of   friendly neighborhoods you imagine only occuring in dreams
